HYDERABAD: High performance computing (HPC) is fast becoming the key growth driver for industries spanning from energy, defense, manufacturing to sciences. In fact some major applications will be seen in media also in times to come, stated Shrikant Patil, Director (Solutions) at Intel Technology India Pvt Ltd.
Giving a lowdown on HPC, Patil informed that the architecture of Intel’s Itanium 2 has delivered more than what has been promised by the Moore’s law. The next to follow is low cost of ownership."Driven by volume, Itanium 2 will cost almost the same as Xeon-based platforms in 2007," he added.
