"Linux NetworX, a provider of powerful and easy-to-manage cluster supercomputing solutions, is joining efforts with PolyServe, a next-generation systems software provider, to present a session titled "Clusters in the Enterprise" at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo on February 1, 2002, at 1 p.m. in New York City.
The session will be co-presented by Joshua Harr, chief technology officer (CTO) of Linux NetworX and Michael Callahan, CTO of PolyServe. The presentation will outline the fundamental differences among computational, high-availability and data clusters, as well as the current status of each cluster classification and areas of development.
"Cluster computing is a term that is often generalized and misused, so this presentation will serve as a basic overview to help clarify the different types of clusters that are available," said Harr. "LinuxWorld is a great forum to discuss the development of Linux clusters because attendees come to evaluate and learn about Linux technologies and will leave this presentation with a greater understanding of the different ways Linux clusters are being used."
Both Callahan and Harr have extensive experience with Linux clustering and have made significant contributions to the industry. The presenters will address the functionality and strengths of different cluster configurations, and reasons for the growing adoption of cluster technology.
"Many enterprise customers are aiming to deploy applications on Linux using highly cost-effective, industry standard servers, and clustering technology plays a key role in making this possible," said Callahan. "To do this effectively, it is necessary to understand the different approaches that are available."
The LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will be held January 29 to February 1, 2002, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. For more information, visit www.linuxnetworx.com or www.polyserve.com.
