Intel confirms Nocona 64-bit processor launch

The Inquirer: CHIP GIANT Intel, as widely expected, said it would launch "No coma" (sic) microprocessors today. These incorporate 64-32 extensions, dubbed by the chip giant EM64T.
The firm is billing the introduction as "one of the most sweeping" updates to enterprise platforms in years.
Some people think that the introduction of EM64T will cannibalise sales of Intel's Itanium processor, which it launched as an enterprise processor.
