SGI works on Linux performance software

News.com: Silicon Graphics has begun work on an open-source version of a development tool for high-performance computing programmers that has been available only as a proprietary product, the company plans to announce Thursday. The U.S. Energy Department is funding SGI to create the software, called Open/SpeedShop, a relative of the SpeedShop software the company has sold for years.
