Linux Magazine: At the beginning of 2005, "Extreme Linux" columnist Forrest Hoffman began a several-month project to build and operate a miniature HPC cluster in his home. Using just a handful of cash and loads of commodity hardware and open source software, Hoffman was able to produce a viable cluster, perfect for development and exploration.
